We've been doing so since 1990 and even though we are Calgary's largest courier, our experience has taught us how to offer the most comprehensive courier services while still maintaining the personal touch clients can relate to.

Carl Hollick, President

Carl is responsible for the overall direction of West Direct, focusing on continually improving operations and service performance. Carl has an extensive sales and marketing background in a number of industries, but found his calling in the courier industry. His experience allowed him to create West Direct in 1990 and provide the missing elements for courier success – industry-leading technology and an innovative delivery model. A true problem-solver, finding ways to meet clients’ needs is fun and rewarding for Carl.

Most of all, he believes in people. He works closely with all levels of personnel to ensure West Direct’s team is productive, efficient and happy with their roles and contribution. He loves chatting with people, listening to their stories and learning what they’re about. After 30 years in the industry, Carl credits West Direct’s team as the reason he loves his job.

Tim Roy, Director, Corporate Services

Tim has spent most of his adult life in the logistics industry, starting as a courier in 1981. In 1982, he was moved into the office as a dispatcher and remained in this capacity until 1987, when he was promoted to Assistant Operations Manager for Rainbow Couriers, Calgary’s largest local courier company at the time. Promoted to Operations Manager six months later, he remained in this position until 1992, when he was recruited by Carl Hollick to join the fledgling West Direct Express.

After nurturing West Direct’s operation through the early meteoric growth years, Tim moved into the more client-focused roles of Account Management and Sales & Marketing in 1997 and has maintained this focus ever since, ensuring West Direct’s services evolve with client needs and are tailored to individual requirements. His well-rounded and extensive knowledge of the courier industry and the Calgary market has served West Direct and our clients extremely well over the years and facilitated West Direct’s evolution into Calgary’s largest and most successful local courier company.

David Coll, Managing Director

David ensures the background administration framework is there for West Direct’s clients. He was educated in Business Finance and Marketing, with extensive experience in the transport, construction, technology and manufacturing sectors. He knows that the trust, support and satisfaction of West Direct’s clients are critical, and does whatever it takes to give them the foundation they need.

The people were what attracted David to West Direct. He loves to see staff participating in charity events and supporting local community groups. He values West Direct’s commitment to the communities where they live and work and is proud that they truly give back. To him, there is nothing more satisfying than witnessing the personal growth of an individual at West Direct.
